I bought myself an iPhone 6 months ago thinking I would use it for one thing only: Texting. I do text a lot (I hate talking on the phone), but I had no idea how obsessive I would become over all the iPhone applications available. With over $200.00 spent on iPhone apps alone (not including music) I now feel I’m somewhat of an iPhone professional. I spend most of my days searching for and playing iPhone games alone. I probably could be doing something a little bit more productive in my life, but I can’t seem to knock my addiction to this phone- if I could marry it, I would! With thousands of apps to choose from out there, it’s just too easy to surf apps and download them with a touch of a button.
I have about 10 games that I absolutely love, but since I don’t have all day and the attention span of a 2 year old, I’ll start off by reviewing my top three favorite current games.
Objective: Use the accelerometer to wrap a single rope around wooden sculptures. The goal is to cover 100% of the object with a rope before the rope runs out. Sound easy, right? It’s not! The further you advance, the more complex the shapes become. You will need to figure out how to get the rope in between tiny nooks and crannies without using too much rope. This game is called Zen Bound because of the simple objective and the extremely relaxing music it plays throughout the game. I’m not lying when I say this game makes me a better person. After playing for countless hours, I leave the game with a cool and calm feeling. Not only does it simulate the mind but I genuinely feel like a more patience person because of this game. Zen Bound is $4.99 on ITunes and well worth every penny. I beat the game a month ago, but still go back and play it every night. My mission? To receive 100% on every level.
This is a game I love to hate! It’s the most challenging of all the games I have played on the iPhone. If you like games like Labyrinth and Marble Madness you will take a liking to Edge.
Objective: To guide a cube using the accelerometer or moving the cube with your finger through a maze that floats in space. The challenge is balancing the cube on moving paths. You have to balance the cube in a perfect 45% angle for it to stick to a moving path long enough for the cube to get across without it falling into space. This part can become extremely frustrating. I guarantee you my cube as fallen into space more than a couple hundred times, but no matter how many times I have to start over I can’t stop playing.
Check out the YouTube video I found for a better idea of how this game is played. Edge is $4.99 and again well worth the money. Any game that is under 5 bucks is worth buying if it keeps me entertained for more than two month after purchasing it.
I know a lot of you will complain that $4.99 is too expensive, but you know the saying, “You get what you pay for.” But…for all you cheapos out there, here is a free game that I downloaded that JB and I have a lot of fun with. It’s doesn’t require much thought, all you have to do is pop bubble wrap. We all know how addicting that can be, right? When using Google to search for images of Bubble wrap I learned that there is a new version called “Bubble Wrap Pro” that is available for $0.99; It’s the same game, but the Pro version allows you to compare your scores with the world and also enters you into monthly contests- whoever gets the highest score can win anywhere from $150-$1000.00. I wouldn’t mind winning some extra cash to help support my iPhone app addiction.
I’ll end this blog with a challenge- Whoever achieves the highest score on Bubble Wrap by next week wins the title of “Bubble Wrap Master of Awesome!” Who’s game?
