Mothers Know Best
Jul 01, 11:13 am

I’m sitting outside enjoying the sun, and I started to think back at some of the advice and sayings that have been told to me over the years.

Here are four from the top of my head:

1. “If you can’t keep your home/bedroom clean, how the hell are you going to clean up your life?!”

2. “Have at least one date a week with your significant other even if it’s just sitting in the grass somewhere.”

3."When married, the EVEN number years are always the best years (years 2,4,6,8,10....)” <--- crap! Or is it odd numbers? Boo, I can't remember - haha. I'm guessing the deeper message here is: If you're having a crummy year in your marriage, don't worry because the following year will be better??? o_O

4. My favorite piece of advice comes from my mother (and I'll never forget it). It was told to me and all of my sisters at some point throughout our teenage years; you know the EMO years when death sounds like a far better alternative than feeling the pain of your first heartbreak?

"Brookie, time heals all wounds. You won't know when that day will come, but I promise you it will. You'll wake up one day and laugh at the fact that you were so worked up over this. And who knows…you could meet your prince charming tomorrow, but you'll never know because you decided to end your life over some jerkwad" LoL. She was sooo right! I find this all hilarious now, but maaan, when you're a teenage girl I swear every situation feels life or death. My reaction to everything as a teenager went something like this: I can’t go to the school dance? “OMG I WANT TO DIE!” Something embarrassing just happened. “OMG I WANT TO DIE” I’m grounded? “OMG I WANT TO DIE!!” I understand why there is an entire day dedicated to Moms and Dads now. smile

What are some of your most memorable words of wisdom gifted to you over the years? It can be good, bad, or just totally ridiculous. I would love to hear them all.
