I’m heart broken… But I know as bad as my heart aches the people trying to survive in the wake of Hurricane Katrina are dealing with a pain much greater then I can comprehend. They our experiencing hell on earth! My heart goes out to all of them…
I’m sure most you have seen the horrific images posted all over the news for the past weeks. It amazes me that Americans are being treated in such a manner. People are dying at this very moment, for what reason? It kills me to know I’m just sitting here playing my videogames, drinking my Starbucks, all while thousands of people are praying for my help.
For the first time I have questioned America. I’ve always believed America was the promise land on earth. This is the land of the free, the land where relief is on it’s way when Americans are down. There’s NO reason why the wealthiest country in the world can’t help give these people peace of mind by doing something as simple as taking a small moment out of our lives to ask ‘What can we do to help our fellow neighbors?’ I don’t want to see the our country, one offering freedom, peace and security, go down the drain. I strongly believe this is the direction it’s heading if we keep thinking about ourselves.
Let’s start showing some compassion people! Let’s offer the people of New Orleans, Mississippi, and Alabama a little hope. Hope goes a long way, sometimes its hope that will keep you alive for a couple more days. By showing them they are loved and cared about might make all the difference in this world. It will save lives!
You know the saying, a little goes a long way? Well, I believe this is true. Let’s start right now on making a difference; it’s EASY! Whenever you see a red cross donation bucket, give them your spare change. When you’re looking at your over-packed closest and drawers at all the clothes you haven’t worn in a year, think to donate them to the Salvation Army.
Bungie has put together a wonderful charity called, Fight the Flood. $15 for every t-shirt sold will go to Red Cross. I know I have been trying to do my small part to help. I stayed up till 3am making Hope bracelets for this disaster. I feel like it’s my duty to walk the streets until I sell everyone of them. Like I said before, a little goes a long way. Contact your nearest charity and volunteer your time, donate money and pray. The south needs us right now, please take the time to give, let’s not have regret!
To all the Americans surviving this natural disaster, you’re in my prayers every moment of my day and night. I pray that we can give you the help you all deserved. We love you.
