I’m proud of myself
Apr 16, 2:00 pm

I don’t get out much anymore and it was for this very reason I did not realize how much weight I had gained over the last six months.  It wasn’t until a week ago, when JB and I headed to the Blizzard Launch party in Vegas, that it finally dawned on me I was overweight.  I packed some jeans and a cute top to wear to the party, so when I got out of the shower and started to put them on I realized I could barely get my thighs through the legs of my jeans.  You know those girls you see with really tight clothes on and their stomach hangs over their pants and you think, “oh no she didn’t”?  Well, that was me last week. My jeans were two sizes too small for me, but since it was all I packed I was forced to attend the party in them and never felt comfortable the entire time.  Here I was in Vegas with all my favorite people, booze, bowling, great food- and all I could do was sit there hating myself.  I couldn’t even breathe in my clothes, and ended up leaving the party earlier after a short an hour and a half.

This is when I knew something had to be done and I set about to take control of the situation.  JB and I went home the next day and we immediately started on a 3 day detox; this means, no salt, no flour, no artificial flavors or preservatives. For the next three days this was our detox schedule:

Breakfast- Homemade fruit juice- Banana, blueberries, oranges, and aloe.
water
Lunch- Homemade veggie juice- Carrots, spinach, broccoli, beets, wheat grass.
water
Dinner- Homemade soup- Veggies boiled in distilled water with several different spices, to turn the water into “broth.”
water
Late Night- 30 minutes exercise routine before bed.
More water

Even though this was our schedule we didn’t stick to it entirely; most of the time we ended up drinking the juice every two hours, which was recommended in the book I purchased to get more information. Or I would cheat and have two soups a day, instead of one. Regardless of the cheating, the pounds started to fly off and I ended up losing 5 pounds, and JB 7 pounds, in just days.

Now that our body had been flushed, we started on a diet that involves real FOOD!  I guess I shouldn’t even call it a diet because I’m eating all the time now, I am just focusing on healthy foods instead. I have 6 small meals a day which consist mostly of soups, fruit and tuna (for protein). It’s been a total of eight days now and I have lost 8 pounds.  Not too bad right? But, unfortunately, I think I just hit my plateau; I’ve actually been down to an 8 pounds loss for a couple of days now and it doesn’t appear to be changing anymore .  I need to step up the Cardio exercise (which I hate) if I plan on losing anymore weight, but for now I’m completely satisfied with my weight lose.  I can fit into that Vegas outfit without wanting to pass out, so that’s a good sign, right?

The best thing about my change in lifestyle is my energy level.  For the first time in a long time, I feel more active and have the energy to want to get out and do things.  JB and I have been doing so many activities in the past week, which we would have considered a chore any in the past.  We roller blade, play tennis, and exercise. The best part is none of it feels like it is forced and I actually enjoy doing it now! I’m proud of myself!
