Some of you might remember the blog I wrote back in November announcing that the Frag Dolls will be auctioning off a “Frag Doll Beat Down Challenge” for the Child’s Play Charity auction. To refresh your memory, Child’s Play is a charity that started in 2003 where gamers unite for the greater of all good and donate money and toys to the Children’s Hospitals in North America and the rest of the world. This is an amazing charity that has already collected over $5 million in donations since it started. And who says gamers are lazy? Ha!
Since we auctioned our Frag Doll Beat down Session at last year’s annual Child’s Play dinner, we couldn’t have been more impressed with the person that won our auction. Jeff S., is a long time game developer that recently started his own game studio. Jeff didn’t just see our auction as a way to humiliate his friends in video games; he saw it as an opportunity to raise more money for Child’s Play. He has decided to throw his own Child’s Play event at his studio where he will be using our auction to host a gaming tournament where people will have the opportunity to sign up for the chance to compete against the Frag Dolls in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Jeff’s tournament was such a good idea that we thought we would help by using our website and social networking sites to create more buzz and awareness for this great cause. As luck would have it, I found a widget called ‘ChipIn’ that allows us to keep track of how much money the Frag Doll community contributes. The widget is set up for all donations to go directly to the Child’s Play Paypal account. All you have to do is click the button “ChipIn” on the widget to donate.
I’m setting the goal for $2,500 dollars and the deadline is set as April 10 to coincide with the day of Jeff’s tournament. Even a small donation of $5 $10 $20 dollars can make a world of difference. I have complete confidence that we gamers can pull together for the children and meet the goal.
