Booth babes
Feb 05, 7:34 am

Recently the topic of booth babes came up in the Frag Doll forums. I hesitated to reply after seeing so many comments agreeing with the posted article from Joystiq.com that mentioned E3 will be restricted.

“Material, including live models, conduct that is sexually explicit and/or sexually provocative, including but not limited to nudity, partial nudity and bathing suit bottoms, are prohibited on the Show floor, all common areas, and at any access points to the Show. ESA, in its sole discretion, will determine whether material is acceptable.”

I for one have no problem with booth babes.  In fact I find myself looking forward to seeing them at events.  Especially the ones that dress up in character!  Taking out booth babes is like removing clowns in a circus and I’m not referring to this analogy as a negative.  Booth babes are sent to events to amuse the crowd.  It bothers me that people define booth babes as just dumb models making a quick buck.  How could someone really make this judgment by staring at them for a few minutes?  We don’t know anymore of their lives as they know about us.

Maybe some of these girls/boys are making a living while going to school and this is just quick way that doesn’t interfere with their schedule, or maybe they’re just into themselves and they like to have the attention.  Whatever their reason is, I don’t think it’s our right to label them.  If censorship is the issue then why start with booth babes?  In actuality most of the games being viewed at E3 are promoting sex in some form; I don’t think sex in a video games does anymore harm than the sex appeal promoting it.

I know a lot of readers will disagree with me and state that people should be more respectful of themselves, but I honestly don’t take much interest in brow beating models for doing their job.  If I was going to go against this censorship I feel I would have to go against all models.  Look at Victoria’s Secret models; I don’t see articles written about them. I also don’t see a difference in their job besides the fact that society accepts one and dismisses the other.  Why is this?

Booth babes are hired throughout E3 to be a part of entertainment. They do their job and they do it well. They sparkle, smile, and are very pretty.  I personally enjoy their presence and hope to see them for years coming.
