Yo mama is a Cellfactor
Jun 23, 11:00 am

Last Friday Spectra, Fidget and I hosted a Frag Doll Friday on Ubisoft newest arcade game: Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars.  Like most things in my life, I waited until the last minute (about 10 minutes before FDF started) to download the game.  Upon downloading I realized I knew nothing about this game.  I didn’t even know the genre.  At that moment, I was happy to remember that Spectra had spent a few hours practicing it; ‘at least one of the Frag Dolls would know what they were doing’, I thought.

After downloading, I joined Spectra server and immediately got thrown into her current game.  To my surprise, Cellfactor was a multiplayer first-person-shooter.  Sweet! I didn’t have to worry about doing poorly now.  The game was very easy to pick up, but most importantly FUN!  Within the first 30seconds of joining, I knew I loved this game.  So this got me thinking, we should totally host a Community Gaming Night on Cellfactor.  As long as we can get a least 8 or 10 people to purchase it, I know we would have one hell of a night.

For the members that need more than my word for convincing, here are some facts about the game.  Just know if you like Quake or Unreal Tournament, you will love this game and at only 800 Microsoft points, it’s a steal.
Here’s the lowdown about Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars.
• CellFactor: Psychokinetic Wars is a fast-paced multiplayer first-person shooter where players must choose their sides in the battle of technology vs. humanity.
• Classes to choose from- Each class has their advantages:
Black Op- They can pull items and launch them at their enemies. They can shield themselves for a period of time from attacks. Teleportation.
Bishop- They can fly, pull and shield.
Guardian (My favorite)- Dual Wield, super run, Super Jump (double tap A)

Read all the Key features here or check out this YouTube video for proof of its awesomeness.

Now that I have introduced you all to Cellfactor, download and let’s have a kickass gaming night! Oh and watch out for Spectra, she is prime at this game. It’s totally the reason I kept joining her team Friday Night. wink

E3: Let the Chaos Begin!
May 31, 10:57 am

I’m in a middle of pre E3 chaos! I’m trying to pack my entire closet into a small suitcase and prep myself for all the Ubisoft titles I will be showcasing during E3.  I thought I would take a quick break to write a short blog for all the Frag Doll community members.
Make sure to stop by the Ubisoft booth to say hi to the Frag Dolls and the Casting Call Finalist. We love getting to see our community, plus it makes the long work days not as bad. You guys are like our light at the end of the tunnel. Lol. Cheesy, I know! Anyway, you can also stick around and check out some of the Ubisoft titles that will be featured at E3:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash Up (Wii)
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction
Assassin’s Creed 2 (PS3, X360)
Red Steel 2 (Wii)
Game Show Games- The Price is Right and Push Your Luck (Wii, DS)
C.O.P. (DS)
Might and Magic (DS)

You can find us in the South Hall at booth #1022 (near the middle of the hall next to Disney and Microsoft booths)
For all of you that aren’t attending- you can stay updated by following @FragDolls on Twitter.  Most of us have Twitter apps on our cell phones that allow us to tweet, anytime and anyplace.  If you don’t do the Twitter thing, I’m sure you will be reading back to back blogs about our E3 adventures when we get back.  Until then, hold down the Frag Doll fort and play nice with others. rasberry

Obsession of the month!
May 25, 11:00 am

Degrassu
The word obsession is used all too much with gamers, in fact I bet you can look up any gamers blog and find the word, obsessed, addicted, fascination, fixation or any other word with similar meanings somewhere in the writing. Well this is one of those blogs, except I won’t be writing about gaming this time; I am writing about a TV series I stumbled upon a couple of months ago, called Degrassi.

I’m disappointed in all my Canadian friends for not telling me about this show sooner. I feel it’s your duty as Canadians to spread the word about the pure awesomeness of Degrassi.  For those of you that haven’t got a clue on what this show is about, I’ll give you a short run down:

Degrassi is about a bunch of Canadian high school kids that struggle with everyday teenage problems.  It’s not like 90210, or Save by the Bell- its way better and in a league of its own! Just like most high schools it’s divided into cliques- you have the nerds, the freaks, the preps and the bullies.  The story line can range from serious matters like teen rape and pregnancies or hilarious stuff like boners and wet #$*#&% ( I’m bleeping this word just in case it’s inappropriate rasberry ).  I had no idea you could even say the word boner on basic cable.

Anyway, for me this is a discovery of a lifetime, not only did I find a show I love, but I found out Degrassi: The Next Generation has been airing since 2003. Do you know what this means? It means I got to watch all eight seasons back to back, with over twenty episodes in each season.  I know some of you can relate to how awesome it feels when you find an old series that you become obsessed with and then realize you get to chill out all day and watch it with no delays.

JB mentioned there was an original Degrassi that never aired in the US, but he use to come straight home from junior high so he could watch it every afternoon.  Considering that teenage drama never changes no matter what the year, I’m sure it will be just as interesting as the new one.  I can’t wait to start Netflixing all the seasons once I return back to Cali.
Has anyone watched this show before?  Did you get into it as much as I did?  I’m actually looking forward to discussing the characters with another Degrassi fan, like myself… Stone? BigVixXen?

Sonic had a girlfriend named Madonna?
May 18, 11:00 am

I love YouTube, and I’ll tell you why…Deeree (a Frag Doll semi-finalist) linked a YouTube video of a hedgehog eating a carrot and from there I found a really cool retrospective video on Sonic the Hedgehog in the “Related Video” section.  One hour later, I had watched 5-6 different retrospectives on various games.  Of course Sonic caught my eye being that it was my favorite childhood videogame growing up, also because I learned some fun-videogame facts.

I had no idea the original Sonic was the lead singer in a rock band or had a groupie girlfriend named, Madonna.  She was a very attractive human that was infatuated with Sonic and would chase him around. Sonic was also drawn a lot more edger then we see him today; he had tangs and wasn’t as soft and fluffy.  Japans dilemma was trying to figure out how to use the same character, but still appeal to the Japanese and American audience. The US ended up giving Sonic a makeover that upset the Japanese Sonic team.  The US Product Manager even had to get on a plane and fly to Japan to try to defend Sonics new look, which she describe as, “Not a fun meeting.” After a heated debate they finally came to an agreement to leave Sonic as the “softer” version; thankfully so, because I couldn’t even imagine Sonic any other way. I was actually surprised to hear that America wanted Sonic more simplified and not the other way around.  Japanese has always been known for their simplistic ideas and have been very much successful in their creations. Anyhow I hope you found these few Sonic facts as cool as I did.

Below you can watch Part 2 of the Sonic the Hedgehog story I reference to in my blog.  I also recommend checking out all the retrospective videos Gametap has up on YouTube.
